the atelier.
shells, sunlight, secondhand treasures + other things that ended up in my hands.
jewelry, shellwork, rainbow-making driftwood, clay relics, painted clothing + journals. some things begin with a plan. others begin with me bringing home something i had absolutely no business leaving behind.
i see what things could become.
a shell can be more than a shell. a thrifted jacket can survive another life. a piece of driftwood might be the beginning of a very elaborate excuse to put rainbows on the wall.
i paint, stitch, sculpt, bead, embellish + often become unhinged about a particular material for a particular stint of time. the result is whatever made sense in my head + eventually became a thing you can hold.
most of the work is one of one, because making the same thing twice is rarely what interests me.
a curio cabinet of current obsessions.
different materials, different moods. everything made, altered or assembled by me.
shellworks.
seashell assemblages, painted shells + dimensional pieces on canvas. no two shorelines, or arrangements, are exactly the same.
captured light.
driftwood, shells, crystal prisms + dangling little bits that send sunlight wandering around the room.
altar relics.
hand-shaped clay palettes, trinket dishes, brush rests + vessels for the little things you refuse to throw in a drawer.
worn stories.
thrifted garments with new ideas. painted, embroidered, rhinestoned, embellished + thoroughly uninterested in being left as-is.
adornments.
handmade jewelry + small personal treasures. details worth noticing, including the ones nobody else might see.
paper relics.
handmade journals, altered covers + pages waiting for something interesting to happen on them.
i have literally no intention of picking just one medium.
the making is all the fun.
never does the finished piece look exactly like the idea i had in mind. always does the material have other plans.
shells get arranged + rearranged. paint gets added. embroidery takes longer than expected. a crystal gets moved sixty-leven times because the light is doing something different than i want it to.
you're buying an original object made by a real (very weird) human with a peculiar attachment to the details. every listing should tell you what it's made of, its size + how to care for it.
have something in mind?
maybe it's a jacket you want painted, a shellwork piece for a particular wall or a suncatcher designed around a specific room. maybe you have a handful of references + absolutely no idea how to explain the thing you want.
tell me what you're thinking. colors, materials, size, the story behind it, your budget. i'll let you know whether it's something i can make + what the cost and timeline would be before we commit to anything.
request a commissiontell me the idea.
send references, approximate dimensions, materials you love or anything you already own that you want altered.
we settle the details.
i'll confirm whether the project is a fit, what's possible, pricing + timing.
i make the thing.
once the commission is agreed on, the making begins. the exact process depends on the piece.
hi. it's me.
the top in this photo started as a thrifted giants t-shirt. i cut it, reworked the shape + made it something i actually wanted to wear.
i've never been particularly interested in sticking to one medium. if something catches my attention, i want to know how it's made, what else it could be + whether i can get my hands on the materials.
so yes, there's jewelry, clay, shells, driftwood, paint, embroidery + a rapidly expanding pile of things i found while thrifting. somehow, it all ends up here.
a few things to know.
are the pieces one of one?
most are individual originals, including pieces made from found or thrifted materials. if a piece belongs to a small series, its listing should say so. the two photographs on this page show the making process + a reworked thrifted piece, not products confirmed as currently available.
can i ask for a particular color or material?
yes. that's a good starting point for a commission. share a palette, reference photos, dimensions or materials you're drawn to, and i'll let you know what's possible.
can you alter something i already own?
potentially. painted, embroidered + embellished clothing are part of the atelier. send photos of the item, its material + what you'd like done so i can assess the project.
how do i know the size, materials + care instructions?
those details belong on each individual product listing, especially for thrifted garments, delicate suncatchers + decorative clay pieces. check the listing before purchasing, and ask if something important is missing.
find your peculiar thing.
choose something i've already made or send me an idea of your own. either way, the objects here have a tendency to be a little less ordinary than when they started.
